Link Signal to Franz with a QR code
Link Signal to Franz with the QR code, keep your phone online during setup, and recover from expired codes or stale old desktop sessions cleanly.
Back to SupportSignal uses its own linked-device flow. Franz shows a QR code, and your phone authorizes Franz as a linked desktop device.
Start from Signal on your phone
Keep your phone online and open Signal on the phone while completing the link. On your phone, open Signal's linked devices settings and choose the option to link a new device. Then scan the QR code shown in Franz.
If the QR code has been visible for a while, refresh the linking view in Franz and scan the new code. Expired codes are normal and only mean the linking attempt timed out.
Remove an old desktop link if Signal refuses the new one
Signal may refuse a new desktop-style link when another desktop session is already active or stale. If that happens, remove an old or unused linked desktop device from Signal on your phone, then try linking Franz again with a fresh QR code.
Do this from Signal's linked devices list on the phone. Franz cannot remove old Signal devices for you because the device list belongs to your Signal account.
Let the first sync finish
After linking, keep the phone reachable until the first sync finishes. If messages do not appear immediately, leave Franz open for a short time. For persistent failures, restart Franz and start the linking flow again with a fresh QR code rather than reusing a stale one.
If you are building a wider messaging setup, keep Signal beside the rest of your services in Franz and use the support form for account-specific recovery questions Franz cannot control.
