Use Telegram cloud password and proxy settings in Franz
Sign in to Telegram in Franz with QR, phone, cloud password, or proxy settings, and separate Telegram account, network, and Franz issues fast.
Back to SupportTelegram in Franz uses Telegram's own web login. You can sign in with a QR code or with your phone number, and Telegram decides whether a one-time code, cloud password, or proxy setting is required.
Sign in with the QR code or phone number
For QR login, open Telegram on your phone, go to the linked devices screen, and scan the code shown in Franz. For phone login, enter your number and then the code Telegram sends to your Telegram account. Keep Telegram open on your phone until the desktop session finishes connecting.
If the QR code has been open for a while, reload the Telegram service in Franz and scan the new code. Expired QR codes are normal and only mean the login attempt timed out.
Enter the Telegram cloud password
Accounts with two-step verification also ask for the Telegram cloud password. This is the password you set inside Telegram, separate from the one-time login code and separate from your Franz account password.
If you do not remember it, recover or reset it through Telegram from an already signed-in device. Franz cannot view, reset, or bypass the cloud password because it belongs to your Telegram account.
Handle proxy or blocked-network issues
On restricted networks, Telegram may fail to connect after login or may never show the QR code. Check whether the same account works in Telegram on your phone on the same network. If your organization or region requires a proxy, configure the proxy inside Telegram's own connection settings when the option is shown. Telegram proxy settings normally require a server, port, and password or secret from your network administrator or proxy provider.
Decide whether the issue is Telegram, the network, or Franz
Test the same Telegram account in a normal browser on the same network. If Telegram Web also fails there, the issue is usually account-side, proxy-side, or network-side. If Telegram works in the browser but not in Franz, reload the Telegram service in Franz first, then clear only the Telegram service cache if the login view is stuck.
Once Telegram is connected, you can keep it beside your other services in Franz as part of a larger messaging workspace.
